Insight Communication Framework - Case Study
This project focused on improving how research and insights are communicated to drive action. The challenge was to move teams away from data-heavy outputs toward clear, structured, decision-oriented storytelling.
Context
Research outputs were often not driving action because they were presented as data rather than clear insights, making it difficult for stakeholders to interpret and apply findings.
Objective
Improve clarity, increase executive understanding, and ensure insights consistently translate into action.
My Role
I, along with the Insights Director, developed the communication framework and actively supported its adoption across the team. We setup story telling and business partnering training team wide, so that understanding on both topics was institutionalized throughout the team. In addition to creating guidelines and templates, I made myself available as an internal consultant, reviewing and providing detailed feedback on outputs across multiple projects, including those I was not directly involved in. I effectively acted as a central quality control layer, helping teams refine their storytelling, sharpen their insights, and improve the clarity and impact of their deliverables.
Approach
We introduced a structured approach to storytelling, focusing on leading with the answer, linking insights directly to actions, and using clear narrative frameworks.
I also defined best practices for data visualisation and presentation, ensuring outputs focused on key messages rather than raw data.
Beyond the framework itself, I supported adoption through hands-on coaching, reviewing decks, and providing detailed feedback to improve quality and consistency across the team.
Output
A communication framework, storytelling guidelines, templates, and ongoing support for improving output quality.
Impact
This improved the clarity and effectiveness of research outputs, increased stakeholder engagement, and drove more consistent adoption of insights in decision-making.
